Multimedia Motor Sport is the brainchild of Sam Snape, an ardent motor racing enthusiast. Sam has, for many years, collected data on Formula 1 races, drivers, cars and constructors, right down to the chassis number of not just the winning cars, but all those that entered both championship and non-championship races from 1950 till the present. So, if you recently purchased a Lotus 18, a Cooper T51 or any other Formula 1 car, look up the chassis number and see if it actually raced anywhere, who was driving and, if it won!

Until recently, all this information had been kept neatly in lever-arch folders, thousands of hand written tables and lists (the project started long before computers were available to the average bloke) housed on shelves in his study.

The time to modernise came when Sam accepted a redundancy package from his employer of 18 years and took the opportunity to turn his obsessions into something more substantial. Everything was typed into text files and spreadsheets ready to do something with…

The answer

mmmsport.com.au combines three of Sams passions, Formula 1 racing, photography and writing. Armed with a Press Pass and his trusty Nikon, Sam haunts race meetings each year taking photographs, gathering information and thoroughly enjoying himself.

The website is a repository for all of his work. Making everything freely available, the site includes a categorised resource area where you can download all of his accumulated facts. An ever growing library of photographs taken over many years of dedicated fanaticism and a collection of articles written by Mr Snape in his own unique and witty style.

Going forward

The project is ongoing and plans are in place to add a shopping cart to the site. This will help monetise the project and help toward the expense of the next pilgrimage to Goodwood.

Showpage is also working together with Sam to promote the site and has implemented a number of SEO and on line marketing strategies to increase awareness of this unique resource including article submissions and social book marking strategies.
